Arsenal, The Premier League and COVID-19

Who could have thought! football, after all, can wait, football can play second fiddle in the lives of football fans. It's now been twelve(12) days, and solidly counting, since we last saw an Arsenal player kick a ball, with them last performing in the narrow 1-0 victory over West Ham on the 7th of March.

It has been a devastating pandemic, which has likewise had devastating effects, football has had to take a halt, even beyond the world of football, so many things have had to wait. All of Europe's top five(5) leagues are indefinitely suspended, with the Premier League having released a statement that the league will not be resuming until it is very safe to do so, and that will be, at the earliest, May, which would customarily be closing the curtains on the league season.

Mikel Arteta was diagnosed of the deadly illness earlier this month, amongst other football figures, such as Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi, Juventus' Blaise Matuidi, Sampdoria's Manolo Gabbiadini just to name a few, who were also unfortunate to test positive to the fast spreading virus.

Arsenal have now released a message stating that Mikel Arteta is successfully recovering from the disease. The statement read:

"We're pleased to say that Mikel is feeling much better. He's in good spirits, doing detailed planning with the coaches and speaking to the players regularly"

'The independent' also reported earlier this week that Arsenal players and staffs were set to return to training as soon as next week Tuesday, with Mikel Arteta now deemed fit to mingle and come back to training with his boys.

It's been a dramatic month in the football world, with health rightfully ahead of football in the pecking order, and thankfully, the Arsenal team have on the safe end so far.
