"Santi Carzola reincarnated", "Another Spanish magician", "A midfield dribbler at last", all these were labelled at Dani Ceballos after that exhilarating midfield display on matchday two of this season's Premier League, against Burnley. Indeed, judging solely from that game, you'd hardly have concluded any different, Ceballos did it all, from dribbles and mazy runs to chances created. He created more chances than any other player on the day, completed more dribbles too and bagged two(2) well deserved assists.
That faithful day has proven just about that for Ceballos' Arsenal career. He has not registered another assist since then, having played another twenty-three(23) games, and only has a solitary goal for Arsenal, which came in the Europa League.
Dani Ceballos has very much been an embodiment of the team he currently plays for, Arsenal. He has proven very inconsistent, the talent is glaring for all to see but has been unable to perform on a consistent basis which is very much Arsenal-esqe.
Arsenal are reportedly not decided on whether to pursue a permanent deal or to let him return to Real Madrid. Mikel Arteta refused to give any answer that would possibly point to the affirmative when asked about the plans for Dani Ceballos.
Arteta on the possibility of making Ceballos' deal permanent "We haven't had any discussions about it[signing him permanently]. I'm really happy with Dani and what he's bringing to the team right now. It took him a while after his injury to get to the level that he has and that I've seen in the past."
The reports from the transfer rumour mills has it that the price would be in the region of €30m, which, in an ideal situation, wouldn't be too much to invest in his talent and a young player of his age hoping that he comes up to the required level, but with finances tight at Arsenal and the team needing immediate boosts and upgrades, that's probably a luxury Arsenal cannot afford.
